Does everyone have a core wound? No, I don’t think so.
Therefore, consider this episode an introduction to a new way to think and pray about your past. Dr. Tom Neal and I reframe the conversation about healing prayer and discuss how to avoid making prayer about our egos, how to keep the focus of prayer on God, how prayer should lead to human flourishing, prayer lessons learned from the Book of Job, and how healing prayer should lead us to love more. You don’t want to miss Dr. Neal’s insights and stories in this episode!

In today’s episode, we are talking all things dating and Dating Well! This is a repost as I’m a guest on the Thinking Faith! Podcast and the host Dr. Brett Salkeld is leading this conversation. Dr. Salkeld is the archdiocesan theologian for the Archdiocese of Regina, Canada. We talk about Dating Well, boundaries in relationships, and why dating is a discernment process. It’s a long conversation because it was originally released in two parts, but I’m giving to you as one long episode. (That’s what pause buttons were invented for!) Enjoy.

In this short episode, I’m sharing a huge announcement… We are moving to Charlotte, NC. This show is about hope right? So, I’m happy to share that this long-held desire of ours is finally coming to fruition.
Also, a brief programming note, because of the demands of the move, I will be pausing the show until late August. Don’t worry! I have zero desire to stop producing this podcast, just need to focus on my family and getting us settled over the next few weeks. Looking forward to continuing this show from NC! See you soon.

Today, I welcome back my friend, Fr Josh Johnson to talk about his new book “On Earth as It Is in Heaven: Restoring God’s Vision of Race and Discipleship.” We have a wonderful conversation about the importance of seeing race and ethnicity primarily through the lens of the gospel and evangelization, as this is the great commission of Jesus.
We talk about Jesus’ desire for all to be invited to the heavenly banquet and how the Church has evangelized to various nations in her history. Fr Josh shares modern stories of leaders who have taking practical steps forward, areas that we still need to grow in, ways we can increase cultural representations in our parishes and ministry events, and how we can rethink our politics in light of the gospel.

So often we feel that to be a faithful Catholic, we need to work for the Church, or some Church related ministry. But I’m here to tell you that’s not the case. You can and need to exercise Catholic values and ethics in your workspaces, communities, and neighborhoods. But how?
Joining me on the show to teach us about Catholic leadership in secular spaces is Cristofer Pereyra and Erin Monnin, authors of the book Catholic Leadership for Civil Society. Cristofer is the CEO of Tepeyac Leadership Initiative, a program geared towards training Catholic leaders for society not just lay ecclesial ministry.
In this episode, we discuss what it means to be a leader, the importance of needing faithful Catholics in all aspects of society, including businesses, non-profit board service, and politics, discerning where God is calling you to serve, and the role hope plays in leadership.

Episode 100! What a gift! Thanks for listening and supporting this show! Since it’s a big occasion, I thought it’d be best to welcome back my first guest, Dr. Jennifer Morel, moral theologian and Director of Research for the International Institute of Culture and Gender Studies, to talk about her research on sex and gender.
In today’s episode we talk about her research that literally brought her all over the world. She interviewed leaders in 14 different cultures to gain a better understand of how culture influences our understanding of sex. We talk at length about the Catholic Church’s understanding of gender, the stories she heard in her interviews, how different cultures demonstrate healthy relationships between men and women, the dangers of the sociopolitical extremes on these topics, and how to pursue the truth about our human embodiedness.

Joining me on the show today is Dr. Paul Vitz, Senior Scholar and Professor at Divine Mercy University. Dr. Vitz is a legend in the Catholic psychotherapy world and it’s a true honor to have him on the show.
We have wonderful conversation about the dangers of secular humanism in psychology, the need to have a proper understanding of the human person to guide them through psychological issues, how self-actualization without God is impossible, the role of suffering in our psychological development, and why self-giving is the essence of being a flourishing person.

Following the leak of the draft decision from Supreme Court, the question on everyone’s minds is, “Now what?” If the final decision is left intact and Roe v Wade gets overturned, what does that mean for abortion access in the US? How will states respond? How will the federal government respond? What are the next steps for the pro-life movement in a post Roe America?
Joining me on the show to talk through these questions is Ben Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life. In today’s episode, we discuss the Mississippi law that the Supreme Court is ruling on, how it’s different from the Louisiana and Texas laws they recently ruled against, will this decrease the number of abortions, how to provide better care and options for women who are considering an abortion, how this ruling better enables conversation and democracy, and concerns about the leak for the future integrity of the Court.
